TiE Vancouver is the Western Canada chapter of TiE, The Indus Entrepreneurs: the world's largest nonprofit network dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship. We bring founders, investors, executives and mentors together so that bold ideas from our region can grow into companies with global reach.

TiE is a nonprofit devoted to entrepreneurs in all industries and at every stage, from incubation through the whole entrepreneurial lifecycle. With a global reach and a local focus, we are dedicated to a virtuous cycle of wealth creation and giving back.

How we help

The five pillars of TiE

Everything TiE does rests on five foundations. Together they give founders what they need at each stage of the journey.

  • Mentoring

    Charter Members share hard-won experience with founders, one conversation at a time, so each new venture benefits from those who have built before.

  • Networking

    Founders meet investors, corporate leaders, peers and industry experts across Western Canada and in 63+ chapters around the world.

  • Education

    Workshops, founder talks and learning sessions cover the realities of building a company, from fundraising and finance to people and growth.

  • Funding

    TiE connects founders with angel investors and venture capital, and helps them become investment-ready through programs such as TiE Vancouver Angels.

  • Incubation

    Structured programs and cohorts help early ideas take shape and give young ventures the support to reach the market.

  • Many TiE members started companies while in the network, and now give back as Charter Members.

Our story

From Silicon Valley to Western Canada

TiE was founded in Silicon Valley in December 1992 by Ambrish (AJ) Patel and eight co-founders: Suhas Patel, Kanwal Rekhi, Roy Prasad, Bipin Shah, Kailash Joshi, Raidu (Ray) Vrudhula, Narpat Bhandari and Sam Sathya. They were successful entrepreneurs, corporate executives and senior professionals with roots in the Indus region, united by one idea: that those who have succeeded should help the next generation succeed too.

The name began as The Indus Entrepreneurs, honouring those roots. Today TiE is open and inclusive, and its name is also read as Talent, Ideas and Enterprise. What started as a single Silicon Valley group has grown into a global movement connecting the entire entrepreneurial ecosystem: early-stage founders, serial entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, angel investors, venture capitalists and thought leaders.

The TiE Global Summit is TiE's largest gathering, bringing together entrepreneurs, investors and leaders from chapters around the world, alongside TiEcon and the chapter TiECon conferences. TiE's global programs include TiE Young Entrepreneurs, TiE Women and TiE Angels. TiE Vancouver brings that global strength to Western Canada, pairing local founders with leaders who have built, scaled and funded companies.
